Thrips (Scirtothrips dorsalis)

Symptoms:

Curling, crumbling, and shedding of leaves; silvering of the leaf surface; brittle buds and brown petioles; fruits may show light brown scars.

Chemical & Dosage (per acre):

Imidacloprid 17.8% SL @ 0.5 ml/litre of water – Confidor,
Acetamiprid 20% SP @ 50–100 g/acre – Tata Manik,

Aphids (Aphis gossypii) Pest:
Aphids pest

Symptoms:

Aphids form clusters on tender shoots, causing yellowing and curling of leaves. Infested plants often show sticky honeydew deposits, which can lead to the development of black sooty mold. Severe infestations may result in stunted growth and distortion of plant parts.

Chemical & Dosage (per acre):

Dimethoate 30% EC @ 2 ml/litre of water – Rogor,
Imidacloprid 17.8% SL @ 0.5 ml/litre of water – Confidor

Mode of Application:

Apply as a foliar spray.

Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci ) Pest:
Whitefly

Symptoms:

Whiteflies cause yellowing and curling of leaves, secrete sticky honeydew that leads to sooty mold, and can transmit plant viruses, reducing plant vigor and yield.

Chemical & Dosage (per acre):

Imidacloprid 17.8% SL @ 0.5 ml/litre of water – Confidor,
Thiacloprid 21.7% SC @ 6 ml/10 litres of water – Calypso

Mode of Application:

Apply as a foliar spray.

Fruit Borer(Helicoverpa armigera)Pest:
Fruit Borer Pest

Symptoms:

Bore holes in fruit, excreta near holes, fruit rot and drop, and yield loss.

Chemical & Dosage (per acre):

Emamectin benzoate 5% SG @ 80–100 g/acre – Proclaim,
Flubendiamide 39.35% SC @ 40–50 ml/acre – Bayer Fame,
Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC @ 50–60 ml/acre – FMC Coragen

Mode of Application:

Apply as a foliar spray.

Mites (Polyphagotarsonemus latus)Pest:
Mites Pest

Symptoms:

Leaf curling and crumpling, yellowing, stunted growth, and reduced fruit set.

Chemical & Dosage (per acre):

Spiromesifen 22.9% SC @ 400 ml/acre – Oberon,
Propargite 57% EC @ 500 ml/acre – Omite

Mode of Application:

Foliar spray. Always follow label instructions and consult local experts for the best results.

Mode of Application:

Apply as a foliar spray on affected crops.

Pest Management Notes:

  • Dosages are given per acre or per litre as indicated; always follow label instructions for dilution and application interval.
  • Trade names are for example purposes; availability may vary by region.
  • The mode of application is typically foliar spray for all listed chemicals.

For Fruit Borer Management:

  • Emamectin benzoate 5% SG (Proclaim, EMA5): 80–100 g/acre, foliar spray.
  • Flubendiamide 39.35% SC (Flubend): 40–50 ml/acre, foliar spray.
  • Chlorantraniliprole 18.5% SC (Coragen, Chakraveer): 50–60 ml/acre, foliar spray.

Integrated Pest Management(IPM)::

Rotate chemicals to avoid resistance. Combine with biopesticides (e.g., Verticillium lecanii for fruit borer) for sustainable control..
